In the Elmwood Neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island there used to be a huge fresh water pond that I stumbled across on some old maps* while working on a book about Knight Memorial Library. I went through every reference to Long Pond in The Providence Journal from 1823-the early 20th century when the pond was just a memory.

I got the opportunity to make a Mural at the West End Rec Center** (inside the boundry of where Long Pond used to be) visible at the corner of Dexter and Daboll Streets as well as an accompanying newspaper.

Below are some process shots from the project!

*It was Kate Wells at The Providence Public Library Rhode Island Collection pointed Long Pond out to me on an old fire insurance map. Thanks Kate!

**Huge Thanks to Ms. Lynn Johnson at the West End Rec Center and to the Providence Department of Art, Culture, and Tourism for helping the project into being.
