These were all sumi ink drawings that I made this past summer. The first two sequences I used a crumpled piece of paper to start the image. I unfolded it and then I put it on a light box and slapped another piece of paper on top and “finished" the drawing on the second sheet. Then I took away the original drawing from underneath and slapped a new page on top and finished the image in a different way... and continued that way for over a month. All the other sequences just started with a hole cut out of the first piece of paper and I drew through the hole and started the Lightbox-back-and-forth page dance that way.
At one point I was working on all of the sequences in this book at the same time while they were in different stages of completion.
You can probably tell that I don't have great language to describe this game yet... It's easy to understand when you see this book or my binder full of the originals, but if I explained it through the phone that might well lead to a slightly different drawing game. It's akin to a blind "exquisite corpse' but I think the thing that keeps my attention with this one is the improving with my past self and how I'd almost never remember the drawings from a few days prior...
